Is that a nut?
I see what looks to be a cerambycid larva head capsule (perhaps a pine sawyer, genus Monochamus, or maybe Rhagium) – but instead of the rest of the beetle larva I see numerous parasitic hymenopteran (ichneumonoid?) cocoons and some frass from the beetle. Looks like the beetle larva was parasitized in its gallery and the parasitoids have all pupated.
