Pictures *yawn* of the tundra

I am just about ready to fall out of my chair; I am that exhausted. It’s been a long time since I’ve had full days of field work, and never have I done research on such rough and unpredictable terrain; it’s incredibly challenging but also exhilarating!

I am going to bed early tonight, in an attempt to recharge my batteries a bit before another full day on the land tomorrow, and also so I can stay up long enough to produce more than just an unnarrated picture post.
‘Cause that’s all y’all are getting tonight.  (Not even good pictures, ’cause apparently after spending so much time tinkering with macro I have no idea how to take decent landscapes!)

A lonely malaise trap on the tundra

Ice on the Lake

Hillside next to the lake

More lake. And tundra. *yawn*

Nighty-night!

Sounds like a great adventure north! I bet there are some cool moths up there…

Amazing looking spot. How are the mozzies?

I remember an Attenborough show which stated that mozzies can strip caribou of 1 Litre of blood a day when they’re swarming!

You’re not going to beleive this: they HATE me. Today was warm and sunny; they were out by the thousands, all you could hear was the drone of their flight. They would buzz me, land, and do…nothing! The local fella working with me was getting chomped left right and center, but apparently southern flesh is not to their liking. Yay!
